韓聯社報導，截至7日，韓國中東呼吸症候群（MERS）確診患者達64例，在全球出現MERS患者的國家中，患者人數排名第3。
除了中東國家，其他國家的病例為2-3例，因此此前很多人懷疑流入韓國的MERS病毒可能發生變遷。然而韓國國立保健研究院的基因分析結果顯示，在韓國流行的MERS病毒與中東流行的病毒基因序列幾乎一致，可以確定並未發生變遷。
